Before you send any money to a supplier or provide any financial information you should personally verify the validity of the information provided by the supplier.  Email is the poorest form of supplier verification.

We require written correspondence from a supplier faxed and sent by mail before we even begin negotiations for payment.  Bank information and verifying phone numbers is top on our list before submitting payment for samples.  Communicating once by FAX and placing one quick phone call can be helpful.  We also examine a suppliers web site and see how many trade sites the supplier has posted information on.  You may also ask for customer references from the supplier.
