It is a yellow powder or crystal powder with bitter taste. It is solvable in acetone, ethyl acetate, ethyl alcohol, Methyl alcohol, and difficult to solvate in Chloroform and insoluble in water. The Principal ingredients are flavonoid flavone substance such as Silybin, Isosilybin, Dehydro-Silybin, Silydianin, Silychristin and Silybin polymer etc.
