43.00 The Extractor – Installation
Menda’s The Extractor is a heavy duty, light weight smoke diverter. The unit is specifically designed to divert or redirect soldering smoke away from the operator’s ace, thereby making the soldering process safer and more comfortable. The quiet, high volume, fan and airborne foam filter capture much of the smoke and airborne particulate passing through it. The unit’s compact size and versatile mounting hardware make it perfect for densely populated workstations. The Extractor is constructed from heavy gauge, stainless steel, and white powder coated aluminum for durability and long life. The secondary benefit is that enclosure is ESD protected and corrosion proof. The Extractor also comes standard with a grounded banana jack receptacle. This makes the unit suitable and convenient for bench top, as well as field service applications. Additional convenience features include a lighted On-Off rocker switch, 7’6” universal IEC power cord, user replaceable filters, and an optional wing arm. Item # Description 35940 The Extractor, 120 VAC 35941 Adjustable Swing Arm, C-Clamp Bracket 35942 Three (3) Replaceable Foam Filters
Initial Inspection Remove The Extractor from its shipping container and inspect for damages. Included in the container should be: • 1 Air Filter • 1 Stand Assembly with Hardware • 1 Power Cord (120 Volt Only)
Installing Stand Assembly To install the stand assembly, follow the procedure shown in Figure 2. The unit may be used freestanding on the work surface with the rubber feet, or the feet may be removed, and the unit can be bolted down. For best results, mount the unit so that the intake and exhaust areas are free from obstructions.
The optional 35941 Swing Arm I designed as a mounting alternative for the Extractor. The 35941 allows The Extractor to be mounted off of the work surface, thereby saving valuable work space and allowing the operator to locate the unit in the most desirable location. The Swing Arm includes a C-Clamp style mounting bracket is compatible with many standard thicknesses of electronics workbenches in use today. Figure 3 shows the proper mounting method. The Swing Arm comes standard with an internal 120 VAC power cord with IEC termination. The Swing Arm’s custom neckpiece allows for easy mounting of a standard The Extractor via the installed stand assembly. The Extractor should be mounted to the stand and neckpiece as shown in Figure 4.
