This short information consolidates some of voluminous safety information and also provides some education for all personnel on handling them. However, each company has a legal and moral responsibility to provide its employees with a safe and healthy work environment. Everybody must remember. Safety procedures exist to protect life and limb. The fact that safety precautions might be time-consuming or bothersome should be secondary to the preservation of health and well-being. No job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely.
The solution process can be hazardous if not properly handled. Consequently, the employer and the employee must always remain alert to potential hazards. Most accidents are caused by carelessness, unsafe actions and lack of knowledge or skill. Safe personal working habits are the employee’s responsibility and are under the employee’s control.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration have established legal safety standards and regulations. The employer and the employees are both responsible for any violations. Another important source of safety standards is the Malaysian Government Industrial Act. This Act is an official government enforcement, but consist of recognized experts in industrial hygiene. The Act includes an industrial ventilation and threshold limit values document which is well recognized through the world. While not legally binding, in many cases this document is more current than the government regulations.
